FrameBlender uses oversampling to increase the quality of still images captured with a video camera. A sequence of frames is captured with a video camera then blended together into a single image. FrameBlender is primarily useful to remove random noise. Since the noise is different in every frame, blending many frames together acts to cancel out the noise.
Uses of FrameBlender
You can remove random noise including video noise and certain compression artifacts.
You can create a sort of time exposure by blending the frames of a time lapse movie.
You can create a still with motion blur by blending frames with movement.
Requirements
FrameBlenderQT is a QuickTime Movie Export component and can be used with Apple MoviePlayer.
This is version 1.0b1, the first public beta. This version requires a Mac with QuickTime.
It should work with MoviePlayer 2.5 or MoviePlayer 3.0 Pro.

Installing FrameBlenderQT
Drop it onto your System Folder, it needs to be stored in the Extensions folder.
You may need to increase the memory allocated to MoviePlayer by 4 or 5 MB.
Using FrameBlender
First capture multiple frames of your scene with Apple Video Player or other software of your choice.
Save the resulting movie as a QuickTime movie and open it in Apple MoviePlayer.
Choose Export... from the File menu.
A dialog box opens.
From the popup menu choose “Movie as FrameBlended Pict”.
Click the Options... button to set compression options for the Picture.
The Standard Compressor Dialog appears.
Make any desired changes and click OK.
Choose a destination for the output file.
Click OK.
While the export operation takes place a progress bar is displayed.
